主讲人先容:美国俄亥俄州立大学数学系教授,上海交通大学访问教授。1988年本科毕业于北京大学数学系; 1991年硕士毕业于北京大学;  1995年博士毕业于明尼苏达大学; 1995年-1998年在MSRI和芝加哥大学作博士后; 1998年起在俄亥俄州立大学任教,  曾任美国生物数学研究所副所长。研究方向是偏微分方程理论及在生物中的应用研究,包括种群动力学、疾病传播、人口基因学等,发表论文120余篇, 现任《Discrete  Continuous Dynamical System--Series B》主编,及《SIAM Journal of Applied  Math》,《Journal of Differential Equations》,《Journal of Mathematical  Biology》等期刊编委。

内容先容:In this talk we will mainly discuss the dynamics of two competing species in  three-patch models and investigate how network topology may affect the evolution  of dispersal in advective environment. Each model assumes that patch 1 is at the  upstream end, patch 3 is at the downstream end, but patch 2 could be upstream,  or middle stream, or downstream, depending on the specific topology of the  modules. These models are described by systems of 6 ODE equations. Some  predictions on the dynamics of n-patch models will be given. This talk is based  on joint works with Hongyan Jiang and King-Yeung Lam.
